Rediscover the heritage of Manila

Photoessay Contest

Photographers and enthusiasts will rediscover the beauty of Manila by capturing the beautiful heritage sites found all over the city. They will make a photo essay to define and present Manila through the different types of architecture, like Pre-colonial, Spanish colonial, American colonial, and Post World War II, which became a part of the history and heritage of Manila.

PHOTO ESSAY CONTEST

MECHANICS

1. PACK YOUR BAG.

Go get your cam and go to the City of Manila. Roam around and unravel the history and heritage of Manila through its architectural structures. Pick a particular street or place in Manila where you can shoot.

2. SHOOT AND TELL.

Shoot a maximum of five (5) photos then write a one to three (1-3) paragraph essay in English or Tagalog, with not more than 300 words, appropriately titled, briefly explaining the photos and its message. The theme of Re+watch Manila and the goal of Re+discover Manila should be transparent in the essay.

Rules are as follows:

Scope of work: Old architectural structures still existing in the City of Manila
Photoessay entries should be submitted in soft copies in a .pdf format
A maximum of 5 photos per photoessay only shall be included in your essay
Maximum of 2 photoessay entries per person/contestant will be accepted
Submission of entries will be accepted from January 19 to February 28, 2013 only

*Winning entries shall then be the property of the organizers, which reserves the right to use the work, edit and publish it as deemed appropriate, but always duly acknowledging the author.

*Please take note that this contest is only open for College students (ages 18-21) and Yuppies (ages 22-35)

Composition – 25%
Creativity – 20%
Technicals – 15%
Impact – 15%

FIRST PRIZE: Php 20,000

SECOND PRIZE: Php 12,000

THIRD PRIZE: Php 5,000
